Fertilizer

Bulk material handling for
fertilizer production and bagging.

Fertilizer materials are hygroscopic, corrosive, and often classified as dangerous goods for export. ENZAC engineers handling systems for granular NPK, urea, and compound fertilizers — from intake to sealed bag.

Industry Challenges

The problems that need engineering — not workarounds.

💧
Hygroscopic Caking
Urea and ammonium nitrate absorb moisture and cake rapidly. Storage, conveying, and bagging must minimise moisture exposure. Silo design, transfer point sealing, and desiccation are critical design elements.
⚠️
MSDS & Dangerous Goods
Many fertilizer products are classified as DG for export. Bagging line design must meet DG packaging requirements, and traceability documentation must satisfy import country regulations.
⚙️
Abrasion & Corrosion
Granular fertilizers are moderately abrasive and many are corrosive to carbon steel. Material selection for conveying components — stainless steel or coated mild steel — must be based on the product's specific corrosivity.
ENZAC Solutions

How we solve them.

01
Granule Bagging Lines
Open-mouth and valve bag lines for granular NPK and urea. Designed with moisture-minimising transfer points, sealing systems rated for hygroscopic products, and weight accuracy to ±50g for DG compliance.
02
Enclosed Screw Conveying
Fully enclosed screw conveyors prevent moisture ingress and eliminate dust emissions in fertilizer transfer. Stainless or coated mild steel based on product corrosivity data.
03
ERIP Motor Monitoring
Fertilizer plant motors run in corrosive, dusty environments — conditions that accelerate bearing wear. ERIP's clip-on sensors monitor motor health and alert maintenance before failure in these demanding conditions.
04
Silo Storage — Anti-Caking Design
Inverted cone silo discharge geometry with aeration pads prevents bridging and ratholing in hygroscopic granules. Silo wall lining selected for anti-adhesion on high-caking products.

ERIP plant-wide motor monitoring deployment at 18-motor fertilizer facility
Unplanned motor failures at a Kedah fertilizer plant were causing 4–8 hour stoppages with no advance warning. ERIP was deployed across 18 critical motors including conveying drives, bagging line motors, and dust collection fans. In the first 6 months, three motor failures were predicted and prevented.
