What Manual Discharge Actually Looks Like

A jumbo bag arrives on a pallet or is lifted by forklift. An operator climbs or reaches to the bottom spout, cuts it open (or unties it, if it's tied rather than sewn), and the material either free-falls into a hopper below or is manually guided in. If the bag bridges — many cohesive powders do — someone pokes, shakes, or bangs the bag from outside to get the flow moving again.

Where This Costs You

Dust, every single bag. An open cut spout releases material into the air the moment flow starts, and again every time the bag is disturbed to break a bridge. In oleochemical, fertilizer, and food ingredient operations this isn't just housekeeping — it's product loss, and depending on the material, a combustible dust or DOSH atmospheric-emission concern.

Bridging is a recurring, unmeasured delay. Cohesive materials don't reliably free-flow out of a cut bag. Every bridge that has to be manually broken is a stoppage that doesn't get logged as "downtime" but adds up across a shift the same way.
