Feeder Type Is the First Decision, Not an Afterthought
The single biggest spec decision is feeder type, because it's driven by material behaviour, not preference. ENZAC's FIBC filling range uses three feed mechanisms:
- Gravity feed (scoop gate) — suited to free-flowing granules with a low Carr Index (roughly under 20): NPK fertilizer, plastic pellets, sugar. A scoop gate meters material by gravity drop, giving the fastest cycle time of the three mechanisms.
- Belt feeder — suited to a broad range of granular and semi-free-flowing materials where a controlled, metered feed rate is needed rather than a straight gravity drop. Offers finer control over fill rate than gravity alone.
- Screw feeder — suited to moderate-cohesion powders (Carr Index 20–35): fatty acid, calcium carbonate, flour. Handles material that won't flow reliably under gravity or belt feed alone.
Getting this wrong doesn't just hurt fill speed — a gravity feeder on a cohesive powder will bridge and jam, and a screw feeder is often the only mechanism that will reliably move a cohesive, moderate-Carr-Index powder at all.

For big bag (FIBC) filling specifically, real-world achievable throughput generally lands in the 15–20 bags/hour range once you account for product characteristics (bulk density, flowability, Carr Index) and operational parameters (bag positioning, spout fitting, operator pace) — the table figures above are ceiling speeds for the feed mechanism itself, not a guaranteed line rate. Don't spec off the table number alone; confirm achievable throughput against your actual material and operating conditions.
Ground-level variants generally run faster than platform-mounted variants of the same feeder type because bag positioning is quicker without the platform step — worth checking if floor space and headroom allow for it.
Accuracy and Weight Range
All configurations in ENZAC's filling range share a load-cell accuracy rating of under ±0.1%, regardless of feeder type or bag size. This is what makes the accuracy conversation about bag weight range rather than model selection — the system handles 500kg to 2,000kg FIBC bags at the same accuracy tier across the whole range. If your product mix spans multiple bag weights, that's a configuration and calibration detail to raise with your supplier, not a reason to expect degraded accuracy at either end.
Features That Should Be on Your Checklist
Beyond feeder type and speed, confirm these are included in any quotation:
- Lifting bag-clamping device — auto-clamps and positions the bag spout so the operator's only job is hanging the bag and fitting the spout
- Bag-blowing function — inflates the empty bag before fill for a stable, upright fill rather than a collapsed or lopsided one
- Integrated dust extraction — recycled back into the process hopper, not vented to atmosphere
- Automated bag removal — once filling completes, the system releases the bag's lifting loops/straps and the filled bag is transferred to the next station (densification, wrapping, or palletizing), rather than requiring manual unhooking
Sizing Is Never From a Catalogue Number Alone
Even with a clear configuration table, ENZAC doesn't size a filling station off a catalogue throughput figure. Bulk density, angle of repose, and Carr Index for your specific material determine actual achievable speed within a given configuration's stated range — a "≤50 bags/hr" gravity configuration won't hit that ceiling on every free-flowing material equally.
