1. Net Weigher Accuracy Drift

Persistent drift after these checks usually means calibration is due.
2. Bags Not Feeding from the Magazine
Magazine jams are most often caused by bag stock variation — a slightly different bag batch (thickness, static charge, or dimension) than what the magazine was set up for. Check magazine tension and alignment settings against your current bag stock before assuming a mechanical fault with the magazine components themselves.
3. Heat Seal Failures or Weak Seals
Inconsistent seal quality usually traces to temperature setting drift, worn seal elements, or contamination (product dust) on the sealing surface. Confirm actual seal bar temperature against the set point using a separate thermometer if seals are failing intermittently — the HMI display and actual heater output can diverge as elements age.
4. Stitch Head Skipping Stitches or Thread Breaks
For stitched-closure systems, thread breaks are commonly a tension setting issue or worn needle/looper components. Check thread path for snags and confirm the stitch head is properly lubricated per the maintenance schedule — under-lubrication accelerates wear on these components specifically.
5. Bag Placement Misalignment at the Filling Spout
Misalignment that develops gradually (rather than being present from commissioning) usually indicates a mounting bolt has loosened or wear has developed in the bag placement mechanism's moving parts. Left unaddressed, this typically worsens and can damage bags or cause spillage.
6. PLC/HMI Faults Across the Line
Since a bagging line integrates multiple stations under one control system, start by checking for a specific fault code before assuming the problem is systemic. Power cycling resolves many transient faults; persistent faults after a power cycle usually point to a specific sensor or actuator named in the fault log.
When to Call for Support
The checks above address the majority of faults a maintenance technician can resolve on-site.
