Pre-stretch capability — up to 300% on electric-carriage models — is one of the most significant cost levers in a stretch wrapping system, because it directly determines how much film is actually consumed per pallet for a given containment force. A system with strong pre-stretch capability applies less raw film to achieve the same load stability than one without, which compounds into meaningful film cost savings across dispatch volume. This matters more to total operating cost than film thickness selection alone.

Film Thickness Selection

The 17–30 micron range covers most standard applications, with thickness selected against load weight, sharpness of product edges (which can puncture thinner film), and how long the load needs to remain wrapped and stable before use. Heavier or sharper-edged loads generally need film toward the thicker end of the range.

Wrap Programming Features

PLC control with programmable recipes allows customised top wraps, bottom wraps, and layer counts for different pallet configurations, with auto-trigger from the palletizer's PLC signal integrating the wrap cycle directly into automated end-of-line flow. Multiple recipes stored in the system mean switching between product or pallet types doesn't require manual reprogramming on the fly.

What Determines Real Throughput

The 30–100 pallets/hour range depends heavily on which configuration is selected — turntable and stretch hood systems generally achieve faster cycle times than rotary arm systems for comparable loads, though rotary arm remains the right choice when load stability during wrapping outweighs the cycle-time difference.
